Dr. Roxanne Wood Veterinarian

Dr. Wood is originally from Cobourg, Ontario and spent 7 years living in Halifax where she fell in love with coastal living. She grew up with two hamsters named Jaque and Merlin, both of which were her first experiences of caring for another; a responsibility she took very seriously. Eventually she rescued a bunny named Feegan and assured he lived a free and fully loved life for the next 10 years. Feegan is the reason she started on the path of veterinary medicine, she knew she wanted to be a voice for those who couldn't from then on.

After a 6 month camping, mountain climbing, and travel expedition with her dog, Cedar, throughout North America, she was able to start her Veterinary Career at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. It was here where she rescued and her boy, Maple, from a dumpster and brought him into her small cozy family. She completed her final clinical year at Oregon State University and graduated when she was 30 years old. Although she primarily practices with small animals, her passion for large animal and hobby farms remains kindled in her heart.

Dr. Wood strives to achieve a whole body approach to her patients, which in turn reveals a root cause and streamlined approach to their recovery. She embraces the complexities of each case and focuses on developing individualistic approaches to each of her patients. The areas of medicine which she has focused on is nutrition, internal medicine, dental health, and always considers holistic inclusion where appropriate. She is looking forward to starting her journey with the James Bay team and getting to know all of her new patients!
